For UNITED WE STAND.....Divided we.....

FALL.......and if our backs should ever be against the wall we come together, together you and me.

As I watch years rapidly past by, I find the truth in this statement increasing each year.  I am writing this on April 20, 2013 which is the 5th day of the "Boston Marathon" bombing attack where 4 deaths and 100+ injuries occurred directly related to the horrible event.

I look back into my younger years and wonder..... are there  more tragedies and natural disasters occurring now?  Or, am I more interested in the world events, politics, etc which impacts not only other peoples lives and families, but also my own.  You may wonder how I can be impacted when the tragic event does not directly effect me or my family?  One word - UNITED.  There is a reason we bear the title of UNITED STATES!!!!

If we are close to the tragedy, such as the April 25, 2011 tornadoes which hit us hard in Alabama, we can physically reach out to people who are impacted.  I have seen this occurring in Boston and everywhere else where a major tragedy occurred.  US citizens are reaching out to these by giving their love, compassion, prayers, money, time and many
other resources.

It is in the Bad times when the Good people really shine!  Heroes everywhere...

I believe and history proves, tragedies and evil people have existed throughout the ages.  Maturity and faith in each of us brings with it more compassion, love and strength  to deal with the situation.

What do we learn and remember each time a tragic situation occurs - that we ARE United.  As Mr. Rogers stated “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." Think about the truth in this!!

I was adopted from Spain to American parents and became US Citizen at the age of 5. I am Proud of my Country and their Strength in times of desperate needs.

The following is a timeline of April tragedies created by evil in our history, six of which I strongly remember.  Will there be more in the future - that is a given as long as there are bad influences in the world.  Will I continue to care and be impacted by each new occurrence?  As long as I have breath and the mental state to understand.

April 14, 1865 - U.S. President Abraham Lincoln leads the country through the Civil War. But he was shot dead at Ford's Theatre just five days after the Confederacy surrendered.
April 20, 1889 - Adolf Hitler was born. He would go on to be one of the worst dictators of all time. He is responsible for the deaths of millions of Jews during the Holocaust.
April 4, 1968 - Martin Luther King Jr., the leader of the civil rights movement was shot dead. He is credited with being one of the most influential people surrounding the Civil Rights movement. He is celebrated each year with a national day of observance.
April 19, 1993 - The 50 day siege known as the "Waco Massacre" on Mount Carmel Center ended after days of fighting after a religious group called the Branch Davidians killed four federal agents and holed up at the ranch property. The siege ended when the Mount Caramel Center went up in flames, killing 76 people.
April 19, 1995 - The Oklahoma City bombings killed 168 people and injured more than 680 people. The blast took place at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. It is said to have caused more than $652 million worth of damage.
April 24, 1995 - The "Unabomber," later identified as Ted Kaczynski, engaged in nationwide bombing for years, killing three people and injuring 23 others. The last of his victims was killed April 24, 1995.
April 20, 1999 - This day, the U.S. dealt with one of the worst school shootings in history. Two seniors at Columbine High School shot and killed 12 students and one teacher on the campus in Colorado. Twenty-one other students were injured.
April 16, 2007 - A senior at Virginia Tech shot and killed 32 people and hurt 17 others in two separate attacks before he turned the gun on himself. The Virginia Tech attack is still the bloodiest school shooting in history.
April 15, 2013 - Two separate bombs went off at the end of the Boston Marathon, killing three people and wounding an estimated 170 others. There are still no suspects in this case.

We are will will always remain United, or divided we will fall.  Let's focus on the bigger issues and  that can truly make a difference in our lives.
